What I'm Reading : Range

I'm currently reading Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World by David Epstein. I picked this book after going through the summary and author's interview on the Next Big Idea Club.

Quoting from Amazon's blurb on this book: In this landmark book, David Epstein shows you that the way to succeed is by sampling widely, gaining a breadth of experiences, taking detours, experimenting relentlessly, juggling many interests - in other words, by developing range.

I'm looking forward to reading this because I found the following ideas from the summary fascinating:

* Why a head-start doesn't always determine success (Tiger vs Federer)
* Why switchers are winners
* Why deliberate practice is not always the best route to mastery
* Overcoming the Einstellung effect - our tendency to stick to what we know
* Why long-term planning for your career does not work

I'll be sharing my key takeaways and review of the book here.

Have you read Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized WorldIs this a book you would recommend? Why?
